Home to the first-ever Extra Yard for Teachers Summit,
Dallas is gearing up to host year two.
The 2016 Summit will take place on Saturday, January 9 at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
This year, we have set aside a select number of tickets for students (16 years and older) who are interested in pursuing teaching as a career path. If you know students who would benefit from the Summit, please share this opportunity with them.
With a TED-inspired line up of speakers and performers, attendees will hear from people who are passionate about teachers and teaching during the half-day Summit. Tickets are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis for teachers in the North Texas area, and we invite you to make plans to join us from 1:30-5:30 on that Saturday afternoon.
At its core, this Summit invites all of us to connect with the remarkable possibility and passion of teaching. It's not about politics, pedagogy, or partisanship; instead, we'll spend the day putting teachers in the spotlight and cheering them on as they head back from their annual "half time" into the second half of the year.
Some notes about what to expect:
- Our promise to you is to stack the day full of speakers who will inspire and delight; part of the joy of the day is taking a leap of faith on some speakers whose names may be unfamiliar, and sometimes committing to hearing speakers you may know of but who may surprise you with a different message than you are used to hearing. The line up will be fast-paced, energetic, multi-disciplinary, and engaging.
- The day will be broken into two sessions with registration starting at 1:30. We do ask attendees to plan to stay for the entire afternoon; tickets are limited and we anticipate a long wait list. If you find you cannot use a ticket you've reserved, please do let us know as soon as possible.
- Registration is now closed. Thanks for your interest in the Summit.
