What to expect.
The Extra Yard for Teachers Summit is almost here...
We are so excited to have you attend the Extra Yard for Teachers Summit on Saturday, January 9th in the Ballroom at the South Building of the Phoenix Convention Center!
Tickets to the Summit are sold-out and we are only able to accommodate those with tickets. Your ticket is non-transferable and is good for your entry (one person) only. A few things to know about the Summit:
We strongly encourage you to take public transportation. Playoff Fan Central is also taking place from 7:30 a.m. – 8 p.m., and parking and traffic may be difficult.
Light Rail options:
- If you’re coming from East Valley, we suggest parking at the ‘Park and Ride’ station at 44th Street and Washington. To get to the Summit, please exit at 3rd Street and Washington.
- If you’re coming from North and West Valley, we suggest parking at the ‘Park and Ride’ station at 19th Avenue and Camelback. To get to the Summit, please exit at 3rd Street and Jefferson.
- For more information on the Light Rail please visit http://www.valleymetro.org/park_and_rides/mlr.
Don’t forget about ride-sharing options like Uber and Lyft. It’s a great way to get to the Convention Center without the hassle of parking, and you can split the fare up between a group of people.
If you feel like taking a chance with the traffic, the Convention Center is offering a discounted parking rate of $7 for all Summit attendees. If you choose this option, you MUST download and print this parking voucher and bring it with you to the garage. They will not honor digital tickets.
Attire is casual. It can get chilly in the Ballroom, so feel free to bring a cardigan or light jacket just in case!
Once you arrive at the Summit, you will check in at registration and receive your event credentials. While Eventbrite issues tickets, you will not need the printed ticket; we will have your name at the door. You must have registered in advance; we are not able to accommodate walk up registrants and non-ticketed guests will be turned away. You will need to wear your event credentials at all times during the Summit and to access the theater.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will you start on time?
Yes! We’ll start the program promptly at 1:00 PM, so be sure to arrive in time to check in, get oriented and meet someone new. With very few exceptions, all seating is general admission. The theater doors open 10 minutes before each session for general admission.
Will there be food?
We’ll have snacks during the conversation break at 2:15 PM. Please eat lunch before you arrive, or plan to find something in the area prior to the start of the Summit.
What should I wear?
No need to dress up just for us. It’s a Saturday! Be comfortable; it’s a long day.
What should I bring?
While you really don’t need to bring anything, you may chose to bring something to jot down some notes (but, there will be plenty of room for notes in your program guide). Please leave your errand lists at home! You might also want to bring a cardigan or warm layer since convention centers are notoriously cold!
I can’t imagine unplugging for the whole day...can I bring my laptop?
It’s ultimately up to you, but we do ask that you turn off your phones, computers, and anything else with an on/off switch while you are in the theatre. Those screens are really annoying to the people sitting behind you. If you would like to Tweet or blog from the conference, you are welcome to do so from the lobby or from the back of the theater.
